To fly
Away
Far far away
From all the knots
That I dread to tie
Running away
I am running back to the past
They said never look back
But everyone lies
I’m a liar, a hypocrite,
But at least I can see that in me
Can you?
Too much denial in the world
Too much of everything in fact
Except for that which matters most
Everywhere I go
I see deadened eyes
Souls lost to the grind
Accepting their status quo in society
We’re all animals
We’re either predator or prey
Funny that everyone thinks
That they are the predator…
They don’t even know
Every part of their soul
Has been eaten inside out
Self-devouring
You are your own predator and prey
And that is why
For I
There is a need to fly
Away
I know it is a vicious cycle
For wherever I may be
I am only me
But then again
The journey is the end
I need to fly.
