My Little Angle Girl
by Woei Hern Chan
My little angel girl
when will you grow up?
I can't wait forever
and I hope I won't have to
I tire at your whims
but I pull a smile yet...
give a sigh after that,
always followed by a sigh...
You are reckless abandon
angel woman-child...
You are solitary brooding
in your room
give a smile during prayer time
will there be me under that same breath
as you pray for all your little divine wishes
for the sky to smile along
all day long...
And so do you,
bubbly angel girl
spreading joy wherever you go
kissing everyone with your sunshine
and sometimes I wish
you could be more selfish
and shine a little more for me
just one more hug...
an embrace a moment longer...
glance me a smile...
would you kiss me...
let me look at you a while longer...
and just like the sunsets
that's how you walk away from me
leaving your loving afterglow
until another morn
till she comes a' shining down again,
my little angel girl
