The Gaelic Alphabet Trees

The impact of climatic change thousands of years ago and subsequent impacts by man keep trees from much of the Scottish landscape. But a forest thrives in Scottish Gaelic. Each Gaelic letter's name is also a tree or shrub. The scrambled word is the English translation of the tree representing the Gaelic letter. Try each of these two "wild card" searches: *beith and *fearn at the map link below. Cha lčir dhut a' choill leis na craobhan. Look closely at Scottish place names, you can see the forest for the trees!
