George Square

By Kay Glasgow

Glasgow's city centre is George Square, named for King George III. The Square was built in 1787, before the arrival of landmarks: City Chambers, General Post Office, Queen Street Station and the Copthorne Hotel. For computer chair "site"-seers, there's live web cam coverage at: http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/html/about/wcindex.htm. The anagrams feature the statues of honour in George Square.
