Scotland Puzzle

Beyond Auld Lang Syne

By Kay Glasgow

There's more than Auld Lang Syne in the Scots language that's old. In this puzzle the scrambled words are each associated with a Scots expression using "Auld". What?! No Scottish Auld- place name focus? Well, I started out that way only to find "Auld" or "Ault" are actually forms of Scots Gaelic word, "Allt" for stream, burn or brook. That means Auld, Ault and Allt are all over the watery map of Scotland in numbers enough to drown the 30 some Scots "auld" devils.
