Maorach is Feamannadh
|
Shell-Fishing, Seaweed-Cutting |

Bi' maorach is feamannadh
Le fiprait an Earraich arm.
Bi' maorach is feamannadh
Le saothair an Earraich ann.
Bi' maorach is feamannadh
Le iiprait an Earraich arm -
Fire faire! dol is cabhag
Ann am bad an fheamannaidh
Fir a' bhaile dol 'nan cabhaig
Ann am bad an fheamannaidh;
Fir a' bhaile cumail faire
Ann am plath na camhanaich;
Fir a' bhaile cur mu'n cais'eart
Mar a b' fhearr a b'aithne dhaibh
Cliabh is corran ann an oisein,
'S rdmh am bac a' snagadaich
Cliabh is corran arms an eathair
Airson sac nan cladaichean:
Seol na mara gabhail ealla
Riuth' nach toir an aire dha.
Seol na mara greasad cabhaig;
Rang fo chorrain tanachadh;
Fir air bharradh tarruing eallach'
Mun tig casadh mar' orra

There'll be shell-fishing, seaweed-cutting
With all the riot of spring in it,
There'll be shell-fishing, seaweed-cutting
With all the toil of spring in it;
There'll be shell-fishing, seaweed-cutting
With all the riot of spring in it -
Haste and hurry, going and coming,
Where the seaweed-cutting's done.
Township men go in a panic
Where the seaweed-cutting's done,
Township men keep a lookout
In the dawn's first glimmer;
Township men augment their footgear
The best way they know how -
Creel and sickle in a corner
nd oar in tholepins grating
Creel and sickle in the boat
To rob the shores of seaware,
Tidal movements lie in wait
For such as may neglect them;
Tidal movements causing haste,
Swathe for sickles shallowing -
Men atop it dragging burdens
Before the tide can catch them.
