The Gaelic Poetry Nook will present poetry both in English and Gaelic.

A' Cheiste Question
"Carson," their iad,
" a chaitheas tu d' àm a' dèanamh dhàn?
B' fheàrr dhuit, air a' cheann thall,
a bhith ri ceàird eile.

An ceann thall
dhomhsa
a rèir a slat-thomhais-san.

Ghineadh dhomh faillean,
á spàrn dhiamhair;
dh'fhas e tromham craobhach;
chuir mi romham gum fàsadh e dìreach

gus buil thoirt air slatan fiara.

Victor Price
"Why," they say,
do you spend your time making poems?
It would benefit you more, in the end,
to practise another trade."

The end
for me
measured by their yardsticks.

A tree was for me engendered
by some mysterious striving;
its branches spread through me;
I decided it should grow undeformed

to overcome deviant yardsticks.
