Fàilte na h-Aimsir do D.D.
|
Season's Greetings to D.D. |
Gun robh agad Nollaig Chridheil
'S nuair a thig i, a' Bhliadhn' Ùr
A bhith giùlan iomadh beannachd
A nì leanachd riut gu dlùth;
Mòran cuid a bhith fo d' riaghladh
'S tu le riaghailt air a cheann,
A' toirt fuasglaidh do na feumaich
Nuair bhios iad 'nan éiginn teann.
Is coltach sinn 'nar cuairt san fhàsach
Ris an luing air bhàrr nan stuadh,
Uair ga h-iomain anns a' ghàbhadh,
Uair mar eala bhàin 'na suain
Uair ga liodairt anns an an-shid',
Crith air anam na th' air bòrd,
Uair a' siubhal réidh gu caladh
'S iolach chaithream aig a seòid.
Uair a' dlùth'chadh air na creagan,
Diùltadh freagairt thoirt d'a stiùir,
Beinnean beucach bras ag éirigh
Bagairt léirsgrios air a' chriù;
Amhail sin is mar tha sinne —
Gheibh sinn tilleadh garbh air uair,
Ach 'nar dòchas bidh sinn làidir
Gum bi leinn a-maireach buaidh.

Have a Merry Christmas
And, when it comes, may New Year
Bring you countless blessings
That will closely adhere;
With much at your command
And you firmly in control,
Giving help to the needy
When their stocks run low.
In our journey through the desert
We're like a ship on the deep,
Now driven into danger,
Now like a white swan asleep,
Now pummelled by bad weather,
Every soul on board quivering,
Now gliding smoothly into port
As her heroes cry victory.
Now closing on the rocks,
Refusing to answer her helm,
As roaring pinnacles rise
To threaten death to her men;
That's how it is for us —
Sometimes forced to go about
While in our hope we're strong
That tomorrow will be ours.
