Cha Do Chuir De Bhuaireadh Raimh
|
Never Has Such Turmoil Been Put
|
|
Cha do chuir de bhuaireadh raimh
no thrioblaid dhian `nam chré
allaban Chrisoda air an talamh
no muillionan mam speur
|
Never has such turmoil been put
nor vehement trouble in my flesh
by Christ's suffering on the earth
or by the millions of the sky.
|
|
`S cha d'ghabh mi suim de aisling bhaoith -
coille uaine tìr an sgeòil -
mar leum mo chridhe rag ri tuar
a gàire `s cualilein òir.
|
And I took no such heed of a vapid dream -
green wood of the land of story -
as when my stubborn heart leaped to the glint
of her smile and golden head.
|
|
Augs cuir a h-àilleachd sgleò
Air bochdainn `s air creuchd sheirbh
Agus air saoghal tuigse Leninn,
Air fboighidinn `s air fheirg.
|
And her beauty cast a film
Over poverty and a bitter wound
And over the world of Lenin's intellect,
Over his patience and his anger.
