The Gaelic Poetry Nook will present poetry both in English and Gaelic.

Bàtalosgadh Boatburn
Cladach lom air eilean:
Ceò dhubh a' sruthadh bho bàta na teine.
Uair ann a dh'iasgaich na fir sin na broinn
lad an dràsd a' tilgeil ola
Ri cur linn lasrach
Bare island beach:
Black smoke eddies from a burning boat.
These men once fished off her live frame
Now they heave lines of oil
Cast nets of flame
Faic iad ri falbh
Dinn crom
Làmhan paisgte ri dromannan crùbte.
An corragan corrach dùinte, a' siabadh bho chèile
Am brògan a' pronnadh a'mhoil...
An deas-ghnàth seachad
Thèid iad dhachaigh.
Watch them walk away
Heads low
Hands folded to bent backs.
Scarred fingers clenched, they drift apart
Crunching the solemn stones...
The ritual done
They head for home.
