Holborn Head is located on the west shore of Scrabster Bay and can be easily be viewed from Thurso. It was engineered by David Stevenson and built in 1862. Its design is very different with the tower being of a "school house model." This means the tower is a built as a part of the Keeper's house. Most Scottish lighthouse are attached or a separate structure.

An exciting book about 31 of the best scottish lighthouses explained in insightful text and magnificent colour photographs is available here.
