Lighthouse Beacons From Scotland

We try not to repeat our lighthouses but this is a special circumstance. Duncansby Head near John O' Groats which was built in 1924 was automated last year. An inspection of the keeper's houses showed water damage and asbestos on the premise so the houses are to be demolished. It is sad when anything related to a lighthouse has to be destroyed but in this case the good news is the tower will remain and the light will not be shut off. Scottish Radiance wants to honor Duncansby by another set of pictures this time taken with the famous Duncansby Stacks in the foreground. You can find another set of pictures of Duncansby which shows the buildings to be torn down here.
An exciting book about 31 of the best scottish lighthouses explained in insightful text and magnificent colour photographs is available here.
