Lighthouse Beacons From Scotland - The Mull of Galloway
Lighthouse Beacons From Scotland

The Mull of Galloway Lighthouse is located in Southwestern Scotland at the tip of the Galloway peninsula.
It was built in 1830 with Robert Stevenson as the engineer and Brebner and Scott as the builders. It originally had an intermittent or occulting light. It was one of the first lighthouses to have the height of its walls lowered because the higher walls caused strong winds in the court yards.
After the facility was automated the Northern Lighthouse Board retained the keeper's accommodations to be used as holiday facilities for their staff.
An exciting book about 31 of the best scottish lighthouses explained in insightful text and magnificent colour photographs is available here.
