Lighthouse Beacons From Scotland

Dunnet Head Lighthouse

Dunnet Head Lighthouse is actually the most northerly point on the coast of mainland Scotland. It is located near Thurso. The station was built in 1831 by engineer Robert Stevenson. The views from the lighthouse are spectacular with the Orkney Islands straight ahead. This is the best picture we have of the actual shape and color of the majority of the towers in the Northern Lighthouse Board system.

An exciting book about 31 of the best scottish lighthouses explained in insightful text and magnificent colour photographs is available here.
