Skervuile Lighthouse

After a long and difficult fight the Skervuile lighthouse was built in the Sounds of Jura in 1865. The station was converted to automatic in 1945 and down graded to a minor light. It is located in the beautiful Sound of Jura with the Paps of Jura in the background. It is a favourite resting place for seabirds and seals. It has a nominal range of 9 miles and its night character is a white flash every 15 seconds.
