Lighthouses are historic structures and thus protected under the Historic Building laws. Recently we found this picture of Duncansby Head in the Northern Lighthouse Board Journal. Looking at the picture we realized the station has had a major change. If you look at the picture of Duncansby on the Northern Lighthouse Board website or ours found here you will see a difference from the picture we feature today. The keeper's accommodations have disappeared. I have been told that they had sustained major water damage and might be torn down. Well, I guess they were.
