Heart of a Celtic Daughter
By Jan Lyons
Within me there beats the heart of a Celtic daughter
And with every beat there is a remembrance from whence it came
Although not born nor raised upon the land of my heritage
I am one with it all the same
At long last I have been to this land of my dreams
Have now seen the mountains where my ancestors roamed and lived
Walked upon the same cherished grounds
Felt an internal shudder of the purist joy
An awareness that had its origin in the deepest recesses of my being
A joy and awareness that reached to the heavens and beyond
Experienced a contentment rarely known during a lifetime
Over moors, through the highlands, heather and glens my thoughts take me again and again
Now able to recall vividly and clearly that what used to be
At last, a sense of belonging and peace
There for me to keep, now and always
Memories, feelings so intense, at times they go beyond reason
Present now is a tranquility that runs deep and calms my soul
An instant recognition and acceptance of a knowledge and a truth of what once lay hidden and now has come to light
Deeper still is the bond, the tie to this land, these people who are so a part of who and what I am
With every beat of a Celtic daughters heart.......
