Each month we will be featuring a guest writer and this month is M. J. McGhee. Born in Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland, in 1965, M. J. McGhee, emigrated to the United States, with his family, at barely six years of age. In the States, he grew up around other immigrant groups and learned a great appreciation for the diversity of culture and political expression there. In these groups, he felt a sense of belonging which enabled a great understanding of the politically disadvantaged residing in the US. Since, he never felt assimulated into the main American culture, he eventially developed his own indentity as a Gay male, a Scots nationalist, a Brit, a European, an American, and as a Poet. He lives with his partner Mickey, and their two shelties "Puppy" and "Cole" in their home in New Jersey.

HAME
Monie names haes ma maw.
Caladonia is awfie braw.
Scotland grabs ma hairt 'n a',
as Alba is aulder 'n warmer still.
Yet, hame is ae the best name
-tae me of 'em all.
Aye, hame is her name
'n tae hame I'll be called...

CELTIC KNOT
I knot wi' him,
we entangle oor limbs
o' Aran rope.
entwining
coils wi' love's
intimacies,
hae'n nae beginning,
'n hae'n nae end,
twining tae be,
no longer me.
no longer him.
adorning
oor map is contineum,
and the laces o' oor love
are embroidering,
embracing
in Oor Celtic Knot.
