Carrying on the Shetland Island tradition of great fiddle music is Debbie Scott. Debbie is from the island of Papa Stour off the west side of Shetland. She was taught fiddle by the late Dr. Tom Anderson from the age of eight until about the age of fourteen. During this time she played with the Shetland Fiddlers and appeared on stage for the first time. She went on to play with the well known guitarist "Peerie" Willie Johnson, and it was during a trip to the Orkney Folk Festival with Willie that she was given the opportunity to record her first album, "Selkie's Song". At this time she was also playing with the newly formed Garster's Dream Band with whom she subsequently toured the country, appearing at the Fairport Convention (she has the t-shirt to prove it !) and also Ireland and Faroe.
