| Scotlands monarchs always had a tough job. Their kingdom had ancient roots and strong traditions, but rivalry and unrest at home and hostility across the border, often made the throne an uncomfortable one. Some of them failed, others served the nation well. This little book traces the long line of Scottihs kings and queens from the Celtic era to the present, and sheds light on many aspects of the country's history along the way. The vivid colour illustrations add to its appeal. We gave it three thistles because it is tries to tell too much in limited space but if you want just a sketch of information in one place this is the book for you. | ![]() |
