SCOTTISH BOOKS FOR A RAINY DAY

This book takes place in a small sparsely populated island in the Outer Hebrides. The island is deserted except for Duncan McKenzie, a marine biologist, Dick and Tom, lighthouse keepers and Jim and Anne who run the local bar and store. A group of students has come to the island to excavate a Neolithic burial ground.
The author does a good job of describing the environment of a small island. I found myself really enjoying the book as he set the scene. Soon the residents of the island are being slaughtered by monsters let loose when the tomb was opened. From this point on this book becomes a bloody and scary tale.
Do not let the title mislead you. If you like blood and gore then you might enjoy this book. If you are looking for something to tell you about Island Life in a Hebridean island or lighthouses on them then this is not the book for you.
I have given this book three-thistles since I felt the portrayal of the island and its residents were good but there was just too much slaughter and blood in this book for me.
This hard back book costs $11.17 plus shipping and handling and you can order by going to Island Life. Or you can order by phone or check here.
