Come the Morning is a typical romance and I found it very disappointing. The plot was so predictable. The book begins when Melloya MacAdin father dies and she is summoned to the king. She thinks she will be told she can rule her father's lands and marry her long time friend and sweetheart. King David has other ideas. He is summoning her to tell she will marry Waryk de Graham, known as the brave knight Lord Lion. She fights this decision and escapes many times trying to avoid the marriage. Forced to marry Lord Lion, Melloya comes to love him and he, her. Very early in the marriage she conceives his child and well lets just say if you are a romance reader you have read the ending a hundred times before. It is a readable book and the characters are well developed but is hampered by no plot.
The jacket of the book talks about the extensive research the author did for the book but none of that research shows to any great extent in the text. This book gives no historic insight into the times but may be accurate with the history of the Graham clan.
